As mentioned on my landing page, this is simply a personal site that I have built to facilitate my classes!
I love what I do and am so excited to finally have a small sliver of spatial sanctuary online.
The overall name I am working under is called in.tuition with Gerri. It is a play on words, with two meanings:
intuitive study + literally being in a tuition class with me!
Under in.tuition, I have two branches:
in.class: focusing on academic study
in.session: focusing on professional and personal study
I also have an online store that will sell academic materials called Through the Looking Class being set up.
Again, that is a play on words based on Lewis Carroll’s book Through the looking glass.
The logo for the site is also in the works.
I love intuitive, artistic, introspective learning that still produces results, but helps students grow long-term.
Thank you for reading this and for visiting my little site :)

The rates seen on my site are simply the same as what I am working with now via the companies I am affiliated to.
Rationale behind the higher rate for IB is that it involves more preparation and more independent thinking / analysis. Cambridge examinations are more assessment fixed.

Please bring as many materials from your side as you can, as I love doing diagnostic assessment.
Other than that, you can rely on me for all materials. Just showing up is good enough!
I like curating and customising classes, so I go with the students’ interests and needs, and build from there.
I have accounts with many services offering study guides, and if needed, I will send over physical materials too.

HALO Approach
Process oriented | Contextually inclined | Academically savvy | Ever-learning
Holistic
Tutors tend to be goal-oriented, while teachers tend to be process-oriented. I’d like to say that I am in-between. I focus on building the core skill-sets of students that would help them in life after school, and also, in turn, would translate to their grades.
Artistic
Making students understand the symbiotic relationship between art, culture, and language is essential in successful language study. It is a big part of my pedagogy - to have students not separate the two.
Much of comprehension study involve literary and life!
Long-term
Education is meant to shape students for the long run.
I build templates and vocabulary, for example, but with the intention that it stays with the student beyond the paper and with rationale involved.
Organic
I am very flexible and quite spontaneous. So, bring any bits of homework, an urgent assignment, or questions and we can tackle them head on as and when! I always have an outline for classes, but will switch it up if needed.
No worries at all - feel at ease about what you need.
Tools:
Homework
I do diagnostic assessment the best, so homework is a big part of collecting “data” in order to best understand what is academically lacking and what can be elevated and refined. I assign as and when it is needed, and is oftentimes curated.
Artform
The self expression of students is paramount in the building of core skills, such as inference, comprehension, thought organisation, and the like. So, I use journals, planners, and notebooks that encourage students to participate in language alongside their academic pursuits, if needed.
Literature
Literature is the foundation of language, not the other way round. Being a backbone to this study, I incorporate it, classics and contemporary, through curated Comprehension exercises or the like.
Oral
I keep classes quite conversational, and like to engage students in discussion. I like listening to them and their lives, and to always help them align points of their stories to their study. Students can be all willing, or reserved, or taciturn - I gauge and work with each student accordingly.
-
I will start by saying that I do not personally adhere to a track record per se, as education is not truly tangible, nor is the intelligence of the student. Grades do not accurately reflect the hard work of both parties, but they do reflect the accessibility of the teaching and the focus of the student.
That being said, I always focus on both areas - helping the student cognitively and creatively, as well as presenting that on paper.
Sometimes, it is instant, sometimes, it’s a journey, and sometimes, it requires expertise of another :)
My current “track record” is inadvertently pretty good, as I seem to get students up from F/D/Cs to As and 3s - 6s, to close 7s.
This has been consistent with most of my students, and it is an important factor in my overall pedagogy.
Weeks, or months in - something seems to shift.
Since my teaching is skill-based, some of my students apply that to other humanities-based subjects and score better on those, too, haha.
It is always a joy to see this, as again, my focus is on the student first and how they absorb and translate the content of their curricula.
-
I tend to work best with students who are either interested, curious, or open to learning and improving in creative and curated ways. As much as it pains me, I do not work well with the intention of cramming through a rigorous and regimented format.
I say this as throughout this decade, I have grown to understand what demographic of students I help the most, hence the development of the Halo Approach (under Pedagogy)
The student is the priority each time, so please do not worry if I am not a good fit, or vice versa. I care about my students, and that translates in understanding that the student may need another form of help :)

I am not the most fancy when it comes to classes in general, so for my online classes, it is just Google Docs, MS Word, online libraries, CamScanner, and good ol’ Zoom.
For academics specifically, I find that the online mode is far more effective, as material and discussion is the main focus between both parties. A lot of academic material is now within the digital space as well, so it is more faster in terms of follow-up and feedback.
Online, I keep things interactive through Google Docs, and I am an email away always. I send over PDFs of written / printed materials too, so no student misses out on that too.
The only issue that I have experienced is when the internet connection of the student is choppy. We can try to work things out or even reschedule the class if it proves too much. No pressure at all. We can work out a discount code if the issue is on my end too!
Let’s make these classes an effective part of your online arsenal.

The location listed in the footer of this site is where I will be conducting my in.person courses. It is an open office in the WorkShop. If any meet-ups are scheduled, they will be held in that office too. I will book a private meeting room for these events :)
-
I enjoy making learning as exciting and as accessible as possible.
That being said, I am working on developing a system that follows progress and celebrates milestones with certifications and medals.
Stay tuned to for that!
In the meantime, expect follow-up materials and a report each week.
Also, if you are a regular student, I would, of course, curate physical materials for study and consumption.
I am not the type who asks for testimonials, so these are the few of many comments I have gleaned from messages, interactions, and cards
